W5 Bush Corner

A landmark mooring in Bristol’s cultural corner.
The opportunity
This site has the opportunity for a heritage mooring or feature vessel in a bustling part of the harbour. This is a great central location right outside the Arnolfini, a popular spot for socialising on a sunny evening and a key location for the Bristol Harbour Festival.

Technical information
- Size: 50m in length. This is one of the harbour’s only deep mooring locations. Any fixed structure in this location needs to be designed in such a way that a visiting vessel can occasionally be moored alongside the structure, and can extend no further than 10m from the quayside
- Lease Length: Courtesy mooring for historic and feature vessels (typically short-term licences although historic vessels wishing to be moored in the harbour on a longer-term basis will also be considered subject to requirement for them being periodically moved)
- Vessel requirements: High quay walls so low freeboard vessels not appropriate. 1.5m step down is required. No floating installation/vessel shall be constructed in a manner that renderers it not readily moveable should the need arise. Floating installations/vessels should either be capable of self-propulsion or constructed in such a way that facilitates towage when necessary. This is to respond to any future requests from the Harbour Master for the vessel to be temporarily relocated and to allow transit through the harbour to areas where repair, maintenance and survey works can be carried out.
- Access: Directly from the quay wall; Closest public parking is The Grove and the nearest vehicle access point for loading is Narrow Quay/ Prince Street.
- Power & Utilities: See Resources section.
Current and past uses
- Bristol Beer Factory currently have a license for the adjacent quayside.
- The site is used during the Bristol Harbour Festival for the occasional visiting heritage vessels.
The wider area
- As outlined in the Harbour Place Shaping Strategy the site is on a key pedestrian desire line, with the potential closure of Prince Street Bridge to all motor traffic. This will allow more space for pedestrians and micro mobility users on the bridge and fewer cars around the site.
