W4 Narrow Quay

Unlocking a new stretch of waterfront.
The opportunity
This central location provides fantastic opportunities for high end Commercial Moorings such as wellness, food and beverage, cultural, or hotel businesses which could spill out on to the open quayside. Near to many popular attractions including the Arnolfini, Watershed independent cinema, and Under the Stars restaurant, this is a popular and busy part of the harbour.

Technical information
- Size: 140m length of quayside with the potential to extend out from the quayside by 10m near Pero’s Bridge, tapering to 6m near Under the Stars
- Lease Length: Term of lease for discussion with interested parties.
- Vessel requirements: High quay walls so low freeboard vessels not appropriate. 1.5m step down is required. No floating installation/vessel shall be constructed in a manner that renderers it not readily moveable should the need arise. Where the location lies upstream of fixed bridges or narrow sections of the harbour, the dimensions should not prevent movement downstream through constraints. Floating installations/vessels should either be capable of self-propulsion or constructed in such a way that facilitates towage when necessary. This is to respond to any future requests from the Harbour Master for the vessel to be temporarily relocated and to allow transit through the harbour to areas where repair, maintenance and survey works can be carried out.
- Access: Directly from the quay wall; Closest public parking is Prince Street Car Park and Millennium Square and the nearest vehicle access point for loading is Narrow Quay.
- Power & Utilities: See Resources section.
- Notes: Whilst primarily seeking expression of interest for the Narrow Quay side of St. Augustine’s Reach, we could potentially be open to exploring the creation of commercial space on the water serving existing businesses on the west side of this stretch of water.
Current and past uses
- The quay between the Under The Stars restaurant and Pero’s Bridge is currently not used, although the quayside is popular with harbour visitors, particularly in the early evening as it catches the last of the days sun.
The wider area
- As outlined in the Harbour Place Shaping Strategy, there is aspiration for public realm improvements along Narrow Quay.
