W2 Harbour Inlet

A tranquil mooring for wellness on the water.
The opportunity
One of the best spots in the harbour: it sits in a peaceful enclave near to Hannover Quay’s popular moorings, flanked by a flourishing nature space, and close to the upmarket restaurants and bars of the Harbour Inlet. There is an opportunity for one mooring in this location, which lends itself to a wellness business such as a sauna. The site is adjacent to the cross-harbour ferry stop which brings people over from the SS Great Britain.

Technical information
- Size: 42m for one mooring. There is potential to extend out from the pontoon by 12m before reaching the navigation area. The space available is set back 5m along the pontoon from the ferry landing stage.
- Lease Length: Term of lease for discussion with interested parties.
- Vessel requirements: Ideal for a low freeboard vessel or a bespoke structure designed specifically for the space. No floating installation/vessel shall be constructed in a manner that renderers it not readily moveable should the need arise. Floating installations/vessels should either be capable of self-propulsion or constructed in such a way that facilitates towage when necessary. This is to respond to any future requests from the Harbour Master for the vessel to be temporarily relocated and to allow transit through the harbour to areas where repair, maintenance and survey works can be carried out.
- Access: This is a rare opportunity to gain access to a vessel at water level via an existing pontoon. Vehicular access: Closest public car parking is Millennium Square and closest point for deliveries is Canon’s Way.
- Power & Utilities: See Resources section.
Current and past uses
- The Harbour Inlet is an attractive area for visitor moorings surrounded by small cafes, restaurants and apartments. It is one of the few areas in the harbour where people can get right down to the water’s edge. The opportunity site is just around the corner from here next to where the cross harbour ferry service operates. It is currently used by 1-2 visitor moorings
The wider area
- As outlined in the Harbour Place Shaping Strategy, the vision for the Canon’s Marsh area is for public realm improvements that make this an accessible, and safe place to dwell, play and engage in local activity.
